Anderlecht have 'serious doubts' about signing Leander Dendoncker on a permanent basis from Aston Villa this summer.

That's according to Voetbalkrant, who say the Belgian side are 'not yet convinced' about paying €7m to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

They report that a discussion has now arisen about Dendoncker at Anderlecht after he joined the club on loan from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

While Dendoncker feels good at the club and would like to stay long-term, Anderlecht has 'doubts about the financial feasibility' of a permanent transfer or whether the midfielder fits into their sporting plans.

Dendocker hasn't convinced with his performances to date, though, with injuries and a need to use him in defence not helping matters. Thus paying €7m to sign him permanently is being debated.

That could change if Dendoncker regains his old levels and becomes a 'stable factor' in the team but there is 'uncertainty' about whether that will happen.

That has led to 'serious doubts' about the loan and a permanent transfer, despite the 29-year-old being keen on joining permanent from Aston Villa next summer.
