With the form Douglas Luiz was showing at Aston Villa last season nobody throught he was fail to fit in at Juventus.

The Brazilian is struggling since his move to Turin in the summer transfer window. The Bianconeri conceded their first goal of the Serie A season yesterday and it was the arrival from Villa who gave away a penalty in the second half.

It was the second penalty that the midfielder had given away in the week, as he was also at fault against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

His form and struggle has been the talk of the town in Italy.

It sparked a TV debate on a channel called Pressing and FCInter1908 have looked at the discussion which involved journalists Riccardo Trevisani and Sandro Sabatini.

Trevisani defended the player, saying: “Douglas Luiz is obviously doing badly but I can go back 40 years and think of Falcao, Platini or today with Leao and Tonali. How many bad first seasons have we seen?"

Sabatini responded: "Falcao may have played only three games badly in his career, I remember it."

This led to Trevisani suggesting that Falcao had many poor games early in Serie A and Zinedine Zidane struggled early on too.

It took a 'heated' turn after that, with Sabatini said to have 'exploded' when Douglas Luiz was compared to Serie A icons.

“No, no, no. [Comparing] Douglas Luiz with Falcao, no! If not, I’ll stop! Douglas Luiz with Falcao no! Come on!"

The debate is definitive of how things have been for the ex-Villa man, who has fallen behind Manuel Locatelli, Kephren Thuram and Nicolo Fagioli in the Juventus pecking order for midfielders.

It has been a bit of a mess and the only positive is that it can only get better for the Brazilian.
