Valencia have agreed a deal with West Brom for manager Carlos Corberan to join the La Liga club, sources have told Football Insider.

Corberan, 41, is expected to seal his move to Valencia in the next 24 hours.

The Spaniard’s two-year reign at The Hawthorns is set to end after the La Liga club swooped in to offer him a top-flight job.

He was a target for Southampton after they sacked Russell Martin last week but the Saints eventually appointed ex-Roma boss Ivan Juric.

The Baggies boss is now set to swap the Championship for the Spanish first division – but will need to help Valencia avoid relegation.

Ruben Baraja was sacked on Monday (23 December) after leading the club to just two wins in 17 La Liga matches this season.

Corberan has taken charge of 22 matches in the Championship this term, winning eight and drawing 11.

He is set to leave his West Brom side seventh in the table and level on points and goal difference with sixth-place Middlesbrough.

The 41-year-old has won 80 of his 190 Championship matches as a manager at senior level, having also taken charge at Huddersfield.

Corberan led West Brom to the play-off semi-finals last term, where they were beaten by Southampton.

He has also managed Olympiakos and has been an assistant boss in Spain with Villarreal.

The Baggies are in action on Boxing Day against Derby County before facing high-flying Sheffield United on Sunday (29 December).
