Manchester City are confident about their 115 charges case after pursuing deals for several new signings in the January transfer window.

That is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider any players in talks with the Premier League champions will be asking about the case.

Man City have been locked in a legal battle with the Premier League after being dealt 115 charges in February 2023 for allegedly breaching the financial fair play (FFP) rules over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018.

An independent commission hearing started in mid-September and ended last month, with the panel now considering its verdict.

Pep Guardiola's side have been in talks about signing Eintracht Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens and Vitor Reis of Palmeiras.

Man City are giving reassurances to players’ agents

Borson insisted Man City are looking to improve their squad after their recent on-field problems.

He told Football Insider: "January is a difficult market, but City have got huge PSR capacity, so that's not an issue.

"They have clearly got some issues on the field, so you can understand that they would want to remedy that.

"I think it demonstrates a level of confidence about the 115 charges and the potential impact of those.

"I don't think it's definitive, but it's a signal that they are confident.

"It's a signal that the message they are giving to potential signings is positive because I don't think it's possible that any player coming in at this stage would not be asking about the situation.

"You would think that they are giving reassurance to agents and to players.

"But ultimately, they are signing players because they are short on the field."

In other news, Man City agree to terminate 19-year-old's deal.
