Luis Diaz took to social media to send a special Christmas message to Liverpool fans after his team beat Tottenham.

The Colombian international ended his league goal drought, dating back to September, with a strike in the Reds' emphatic 6-3 victory on Sunday (22 December).

Díaz opened the scoring with a finish set up by a trademark Trent Alexander-Arnold assist from the right flank.

His celebration, which involved shining Alexander-Arnold's boot, has fuelled speculation among fans that the right-back will remain at the club long-term.

The winger now boasts seven goals and two assists in the Premier League this season, as Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table.

Díaz took to Instagram to celebrate the victory, captioning his post: "Happy Christmas. See you soon" with a red heart emoji.

Teammates also joined in the celebratory mood, with Virgil van Dijk commenting a heart emoji, Andy Robertson sending applause emojis, and Cody Gakpo adding fire emojis alongside others to show their support.

Díaz was in red-hot form at the start of the season, prompting talks of a contract extension as a reward for his performances.

However, the hierarchy has understandably shifted focus to more pressing matters, with Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, and top scorer Mohamed Salah all within six months of their current contracts expiring.

Slot has brought a refreshing blend of exciting football and composure to this new era at Anfield. His side sits four points clear of Chelsea, six ahead of Arsenal, and holds a game in hand – an enviable position in the title race.

Salah continues to reign as Liverpool's talisman, overtaking Erling Haaland as the league's top scorer with 15 goals and surpassing Bukayo Saka in the assist tally with 11. With Saka sidelined through injury, the Egyptian's lead could extend even further.

Despite the confidence within the club that new deals will be signed, there have been no concrete updates on any agreements.

Yet, with Díaz seemingly rediscovering his form, Diogo Jota back from injury, and the contract trio still delivering stellar performances, Slot's Liverpool could well be lifting the Premier League trophy in May, marking a sensational debut season for the Dutch manager.

In other news, Jamie Carragher believes Arne Slot tricked a Premier League manager.
