Liverpool might have made their move for a player starring at the Euros but it looks like Real Madrid are the club he wants to join.

The Reds are looking to make new signings if they can this summer as the club looks to back new manager Arne Slot in the market.

Slot has been giving his first press conference today and Richard Hughes also spoke on making moves in the window if it makes sense.

Of course, we’ve seen the Reds linked with a host of players already.

Leny Yoro has continually being linked with a move to Anfield but the belief is that he is waiting for Real Madrid to sign him instead.

And according to reports from Italy, Liverpool are facing the same situation when it comes to one of their top midfield targets.

Adrien Rabiot wants to join Real Madrid, amid Liverpool interest

According to a report from TuttoJuve, French midfielder Rabiot is wanted by Real Madrid, Liverpool and also Newcastle.

However, it’s claimed that Rabiot has decided to join Madrid, just as long as they are forthcoming with a contract offer of around £9m-a-season to sign him.

Rabiot is a free agent heading into the summer and has been linked with a move to English clubs for a number of windows now.

Indeed, it had been reported that Liverpool had indeed recently made an offer to Rabiot.

But it looks like the Frenchman’s preference is indeed to join his international teammates Mbappe and Tchouameni at the Bernabeu,

The ‘world-class‘ Rabiot is looking to cash in on his free agent status by landing a big contract as well as a huge signing on bonus.

Quite whether Madrid will come forward with such figures after putting all their eggs into the signing of Mbappe, remains to be seen.

For Liverpool, Rabiot’s age of 29 might also be a problem.

The Reds have made a habit in recent times of signing players who can develop and get better and after adding to their midfield last summer, may be reluctant to add such a player on high wages like Rabiot.
