Burnley failed to register a shot on target and missed the opportunity to go second in the Championship after drawing 0-0 with Leeds United.

Zian Flemming had the first real opportunity of the game in the ninth minute, after being found by Jaidon Anthony with a cross, but the Dutchman put his header wide.

Flemming was once again the target of a Burnley cross, as Bashir Humphreys looped a ball in, in the 20th minute, but once again the Dutchman was unable to get his header on target.

The Clarets staunchly defended their way through the first-half as Leeds grew into the game.

In the second-half, it was a similar story as Burnley looked to preserve their defensive record, having avoided conceding in the Championship since 21 December.

After their 5-0 win against Plymouth (22 January), that saw a shocking refereeing mistake, Burnley offered next to nothing going forward and were focused instead on nullifying their dangerous opponents.

Leeds would register the first and only shot on target in the 88th minute, which James Trafford tipped over the bar.

The result sees Burnley move one point behind Sheffield United in second place.

Here's how Football Insider rated the performance of the Burnley squad against Leeds on Monday (27 January).

James Trafford – 6

Had very little to do until the 88th minute when he made a fine save and mainly looking for Flemming with long balls, a much quieter night in this top of the table clash as opposed to his heroics against Sunderland.

Connor Roberts – 7

Defensively solid but offered little going forward, dealt with the dangerous Manor Solomon handily.

CJ Egan-Riley – 8

Defended well alongside Esteve and looked comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Maxime Esteve – 8

Brilliant blocking on show and controlled the back line with confidence and maturity.

Bashir Humphreys – 8

Offered a serious attacking threat whilst also nullifying the dangerous Dan James, a very composed performance from the Chelsea loanee.

Josh Cullen – 5

A quieter night than expected from Cullen, despite a good season the game passed him by and he failed to have an impact.

Josh Laurent – 7

Broke forward well on occasion and won the midfield battle, Laurent protected his back-line well.

Jaidon Anthony – 6

The most dangerous of the wingers on the pitch, his quality is obvious, despite the lack of output against Leeds.

Josh Brownhill (off for Mejbri ’89) – 6

Worked hard in midfield, playing slightly ahead of his partners Cullen and Laurent, moved the ball tidily but lacked real quality in his final pass into the box.

Lyle Foster (off for Sarmiento ’74) – 5

Substituted for Sarmiento after failing to have any real impact on the match.

Zian Flemming – 5

Only had five touches of the ball after coming on, struggled to get into the game.
