All of three months into the 2024-25 campaign, two Juventus players have now suffered season-ending knee injuries.

Juan Cabal's flight back to Turin from South America earlier this week was much sooner than he expected and certainly for one of the reasons in which any player never wants to see happen during an international break.

And Juventus confirmed that reason on Thursday.

As was reported earlier this week, Juventus announced that Cabal has suffered an injury to his ACL in his left knee while on international duty with Colombia ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Ecuador. While Juventus didn't directly describe it as an ACL tear, that is pretty much the indirect feeling considering Cabal will undergo surgery over the course of the next few days. That means the 23-year-old Cabal is the second Juve player within the last two months to see their season ended well early with torn ACL after Gleison Bremer suffered the same injury in the Bianconeri's comeback win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League back in October.

That's right — two players, let along two South Americans, going down with torn ACL injuries. While we don't know the manner of how this one came about like we did right there in front of us in the early minutes against Leipzig with Bremer's injury, it's another gut punch to a defense that wasn't exactly brimming with depth options both at center back and fullback. So now, the main option that gave Thiago Motta some flexibility to play Andrea Cambiaso on the right is right alongside Bremer as a long-term injury absence.

Cabal, who joined from Hellas Verona as part of Juventus' massive roster makeover this past summer, appeared in nine games in all competitions, making eight starts. While sometimes the performances were mixed, Cabal certainly showed positive signs as to why Juventus snapped him up quickly amidst interest from other clubs in Italy.

But now, just like Bremer, it will be a while before we see Cabal on the field again. That is something you never want to type, but it's especially so when it comes at a time in which Juventus isn't even playing and now they will have to deal with something that took place during an international break.
