Birmingham City boss Chris Davies has said Krystian Bielik ‘couldn’t continue’ against Northampton Town after cramping up.

Birmingham City had been without the centre-back for a spell heading into their clash against the Cobblers last time out. They ended up drawing 1-1 with Jon Brady’s side at St Andrew’s and their opponents equalised in added-on time through winger Mitch Pinnock.

Bielik, 26, was handed a start by the Blues alongside Christoph Klarer in the heart of the backline. However, he had to go off near the end and was replaced by Dion Sanderson before they conceded at the death.

When asked why he was substituted, Davies shared this update on his condition, as per a report by BirminghamLive: “He’s been injured for quite a while and just cramped up. He couldn’t continue and wanted to come off. Dion came on for the last few minutes and we unfortunately conceded the goal.”
