Hull City could shelve pursuit of 25-year-old amid latest transfer development

Hull City are considering stepping away from their pursuit of Huddersfield Town winger Sorba Thomas, as per a report by HullLive.
Hull City have been trying to lure the attacker back to England with him currently out on loan in France at Nantes. It has proved to be a tough deal for HCAFC to do though.
Thomas, 26, is due to spend the whole season in Ligue 1 after joining his current club on a temporary basis last year. He has made 16 appearances this season and has chipped in with two goals.
In this latest update regarding his future this winter, HullLive report the Tigers may well shelve their pursuit of him between now and the end of the January transfer window. They are poised to sign highly-rated Aston Villa attacker Louie Barry on loan following his impressive spell at Stockport County.
Ruben Selles’ side won 3-0 away at Sheffield United last time out.
Hull City update regarding Sorba Thomas
Hull City have identified Thomas as someone who would boost their attacking ranks ahead of the second-half of the campaign.
However, with Barry set to join, they probably don’t need another player in that department as well.
The Tigers already have the likes of Abu Kamara, Joe Gelhardt, Lincoln, Nordin Amrabat and Harry Vaughan.
Liam Millar and Mo Belloumi are also expected to return from their long-term injuries in the summer.
Thomas started out at West Ham before dropping into non-league to link up with Boreham Wood.
He was snapped up by Huddersfield Town in 2021 and went on to become a key player for the Terriers.
The Wales international has played 114 matches for the Yorkshire outfit and has chipped in with seven goals.
As well as Nantes, he has also been loaned out to Blackburn Rovers by his parent club in the past.
His long-term future at the John Smith’s Stadium is up in the air.
What now for Hull City?
Hull City have until the deadline on Monday 3rd February to bring in more players.
They have been the busiest side in the second tier so far this month.
Selles’ side have risen out of the bottom three after their shock victory against promotion chasing Sheffield United.
The Tigers will want to build some momentum now and are back in action this weekend with a home clash against Stoke City at the MKM Stadium.
