Hull City to cash in on 24-year-old as Wrexham agree £500,000 swoop

Hull City forward Ryan Longman is closing in on joining League One promotion hopefuls Wrexham, according to Jason Burt.
Hull City are having a very busy January window and have already signed four new players. Nordin Amrabat, Matt Crooks, Joe Gelhardt and Kyle Joseph have joined HCAFC and they are still keen on more.
After a shocking season so far, leaving them 21st and level on points with the two sides below them, new boss Ruben Selles has a huge task of a mid-season rebuild. However, to do so, he also needs to trim down his squad.
One player who now looks likely to leave is Ryan Longman. According to The Telegraph reporter Jason Burt, reporting on Bluesky, Wrexham have agreed a deal to sign the versatile Hull City forward.
Oxford United had been linked with the 24-year-old with Gary Rowett keen on reuniting with Longman but the Red Dragons appear to have nipped in ahead of the Championship club.
The deal is around £500,000 to bring the winger down to League One.
Longman has featured nine times for Hull City this season, starting six times and scoring one goal.
Big coup for Wrexham
Hull City forward Longman has been a regular in the Championship for the last three seasons. He has made 79 Championship appearances for HCAFC and spent last season on loan with Millwall in the second tier. During his time in the Championship, he has scored 11 goals.
But, Longman has spent time in League One too. He was on loan at this level back in the 2020/21 season with AFC Wimbledon, performing well and helping them stay in the division by scoring eight goals.
Longman has been a consistent performer over the past four seasons and is extremely versatile, being able to play on either wing and through the middle. The Tigers ace is a big coup for a League One side and could be key to Wrexham’s promotion hopes.
What next for Hull City?
Hull City’s thoughts turn away from the transfer window tonight as they host QPR tonight (Tuesday).
After a win over Millwall last weekend, HCAFC will hope to take that form back to their home patch against an in-form QPR side. That made it two wins in their last four games for the Tigers as they look to put together a run of wins.
A win tonight would be huge for Hull City, who then go to Sheffield United this weekend.
