Luton Town have been chasing Wycombe star Richard Kone but the League One club say he is not for sale, according to Football League World.

Luton Town are having a busy final week of the transfer window with several players leaving and joining the club. Matt Bloomfield is looking to make his mark on the side after joining LTFC in danger of back-to-back relegations.

Bloomfield has already added Thelo Aasgaard, Kal Naismith and Isaiah Jones to his ranks. However, the former Wycombe Wanderers boss has been chasing his former star Richard Kone, who has been starring for the Chairboys this season.

Sadly for Bloomfield though, he looks set to be unsuccessful. According to Football League World, Wycombe Wanderers are insisting that Kone is not available for transfer during this window.

Luton Town have reportedly had several bids rejected for the 21-year-old forward, with the latest reaching around £6m.

It is unknown as of now if the Hatters is going to put in another offer for the striker who Bloomfield had signed for Wycombe in the last January window.

Wanderers are currently in the automatic promotion race, six points clear of 3rd place Wrexham. Luton Town on the other hand are 23rd in the Championship and three points adrift of safety.

Big blow to goal-shy Luton Town

Luton Town have been one of the lowest scorers in the Championship. The Hatters have just 29 goals to their name this season, the third least in the entire division.

Due to this, it is no surprise the club have been searching for a new centre forward and Kone looked like the perfect option. The forward has 16 goals already this season, leaving him as the top scorer in League One.

Given his form at the minute and the fact he knows head coach Bloomfield, Kone would’ve been the perfect signing. LTFC may try their hand once more but a move looks unlikely this January with Wycombe keen to keep a crucial player.

What next for Luton Town

Luton Town look like they will need to switch targets in terms of strikers with Kone unlikely to move.

However, they will be diverting their attention back to Championship football as they go to Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. LTFC are desperate for win after going without one in eight games in all competitions, losing seven games in that run.

With the club needing change this week both on and off the pitch, it is sure to be a big seven days for the Hatters and their survival prospects.
