The Blues will want to bounce back with a win against Exeter City at St James Park on Tuesday night.

Davies said after their defeat to the Shrews, Davies said, as per a report by BirminghamLive: “I think the second goal (for Shrewsbury Town) is a really poor goal. We very rarely have conceded a goal on the counter-attack and there was things within that goal that I really didn’t like. I haven’t seen that from us.

“And the third goal was a ball over the top, a cross and finish. They are difficult goals to accept and to watch. Defensively we gave very little away and we rank up there out of all the clubs in the country, we typically give very little away. The problem has been making sure we score enough goals.”

Birmingham City boss reacts to Shrewsbury Town loss

Birmingham City will want to tighten things up at the back in their upcoming fixtures.

They have dropped down to 4th place in the table after their defeat to Shrewsbury Town.

The Blues are aiming for an immediate promotion back to the Championship this season and turned to Davies over the summer. Prior to his switch to the Midlands, he worked as the number two of the likes of Celtic, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Birmingham City are five points behind league leaders Wycombe Wanderers now. The Chairboys extended their impressive run of form with their 3-2 away win at Lincoln City last time out.

The Blues have a game in-hand on the Chairboys though and have also played less matches than Wrexham and Stockport County.

The latter two teams were promoted from League Two in the last campaign and have both adapted well to life in the division above.

What now?

Birmingham City have four central defenders to pick from in Christoph Klarer, Krystian Bielik, Ben Davies and Dion Sanderson meaning they can mix things up ahead of their match against Exeter City.

The beauty of the third tier is that games come thick and fast and the Blues have an ideal opportunity to return to winning ways against the Grecians and put their defeat to Shrewsbury Town behind them.
