Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney has said Manchester United loanee Joe Hugill has made a ‘very good’ start with the League One side.

Wigan Athletic swooped to land the striker on a temporary basis in the summer transfer window to bolster their attacking department. He has since adapted well to life at The Brick Community Stadium and been scoring goals.

Hugill, 20, has found the net on three occasions in seven games in all competitions. He will now be eager to add to his tally over the coming months.

Maloney has said, as per a report by Wigan Today: “Joe’s extremely fast, he’s a very good finisher, and once he gets better at holding the ball up against more physical players, he’s become even better.

“Whatever level the lad wants to reach, there’s no ceiling I’d ever put on him, he has so many attributes. I know that when forward players score, it gives you that lift, but he’s still got work to do. There’s different ways of scoring that he can get better at, but he’s had a very good start here.”
