Top Leeds United prospect close to League Two loan move

Leeds United prodigy Charlie Crew is closing in on a loan move to Doncaster Rovers, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Leeds United are a club that pride themselves on the development of young prospects, bringing a while host of talents through the esteemed LUFC youth ranks.
Many have gone on to hold down key roles in the first-team while some have taken their abilities to pastures new. The latest prospect to have made a notable rise is Archie Gray, who broke into the side last season before earning a move to Spurs, where he has been playing regularly of late as centre-back cover.
At Thorp Arch though, all eyes are on the next prodigies who could follow the pathway to the first-team. One player who looks to be following that route is Welsh midfielder Charlie Crew.
Now, it seems the 18-year-old could be set for a first taste of regular senior football. The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the Leeds United starlet is close to joining Doncaster Rovers on loan.
There is an acknowledgement that the teenager needs first-team opportunities and he could get those in League Two away from LUFC.
As such, Crew may make the short journey to seal the move in the coming days.
A top prospect
Crew is still in the formative years of his career but Leeds United look to have another top prospect on their hands in the form of the young midfielder.
The former Cardiff City youngster has only played once for the first-team but he’s been in and around the squad for some time, taking a regular place on the bench this season. He’s continued to impress for the U21s when not involved with Daniel Farke’s side too.
Most notably though, Crew is already capped on the international stage by Wales. He played 23 minutes against Gibraltar in June 2024 having already played an extensive amount for his country’s youth sides.
Who else could leave LUFC?
Crew isn’t the only Leeds United prospect who could move out the door on a temporary basis this winter.
Some feel defender James Debayo could benefit from an opportunity elsewhere having spent time in and around the first-team as centre-back cover this season.
There’s also the likes of Cian Coleman and Luca Thomas, who have already spent spells on loan away from the club this season. They’ve recently had stints with Buxton and York City respectively and may well be lined up for fresh moves away from LUFC.
