AS Monaco have received a boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
Both Wilfried Singo and Denis Zakaria, who form the backbone of this Monaco side, were absent as the side succumbed to a shock 2-1 loss to Montpellier HSC on Friday. Zakaria has been struggling with illness, like others in the squad, whilst Singo was suffering from a minor back issue. However, at Monday’s pre-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News, Adi Hütter announced that both were likely to be involved against Aston Villa.
“Some players back like Denis (Zakaria), I think. He will be able to play, and Golo (Aleksandr Golovin) too after sickness. (Christian) Mawissa is also back, and I think that Singo can play as well. It is much better when you have almost every player on the teamsheet. We have training today. We will then look at their stats and see if they can be in the starting XI,” said the Monaco manager.
Folarin Balogun and George Ilenikhena are both confirmed absences for the upcoming encounter with Monaco needing one point to secure their progression to the next phase of the Champions League
