Eric Roy confirms Brest's key man nearing return

It hasn’t been an easy start to the season for Stade Brestois. It was never expected to be. Matching last season’s performances always looked like a tall order, especially following the departures of the likes of Lilian Brassier, Martín Satriano, and Steve Mounié.
After four games in Ligue 1, Brest sit 14th in the table with one victory and three defeats, although they did receive a boost in mid-week, beating Sturm Graz on their UEFA Champions League debut.

They may now be set for another boost. No player was more key for Brest last season than Pierre Lees-Melou (31), Get French Football News’ player of the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season.
He suffered a fracture of his fibula at the end of April, meaning that he missed the end of last season. His recovery has been longer than expected, but as manager Eric Roy revealed, there is now light at the end of the tunnel. “The positive thing is that he is feeling an improvement and he is near to a return. He has less pain. He will tell me when he is completely ready. He has been training with the group for two weeks. He has not yet hit the ball very hard and that is the last step to take,” Roy said on Friday.
