France have been drawn to face Croatia in the Nations League quarterfinals. The draw took place this Friday at UEFA’s Nyon headquarters with former Switzerland international Johan Djourou taking centre stage. Courtesy of their 3-1 away win against Italy last Sunday, Les Bleus snatched the A2 group’s first place from La Squadra on goal difference, which means they had to play a group runner-up with the return leg held in France, most likely at the Stade de France, during the March international break. Apart from Croatia, France could have been drawn with Netherlands and Denmark.
Croatia v France will be held on March 20th, the return leg will be held on March 23rd. France last crossed paths with Croatia during the 2022-2023 Nations League with a group stage game at Saint-Denis’ Stade de France, where the visitors won 1-0 courtesy of a Luka Modric penalty. No other team beat Les Bleus in Saint-Denis since.
The draw for the Nations League Final Four also took place this Friday. Should Didier Deschamps’ France overcome Croatia, Les Bleus will face either Spain or the Netherlands in the Nations League semi-finals next June. The 2024-2025 Nations League will be held on Sunday, June 8.
