Manchester United want to accelerate transfer talks for Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes amid growing interest from two rivals.

Sources with a close understanding of the situation have told CaughtOffside that talks are ongoing over a possible Man Utd deal for Mendes, but that Real Madrid are also looking at the Portugal international, while Manchester City have also started monitoring the situation.

The Red Devils look to be the most advanced with their interest for now, but they're yet to make any kind of breakthrough in negotiations, with PSG holding out for as much as €65m for Mendes, even though his contract is up in 2026.

Real Madrid also need a new left-back, and it seems they're moving away from their main target of Alphonso Davies now as he seems increasingly open to signing a new contract at Bayern Munich.

Ruben Amorim views Mendes as an ideal signing for the left wing-back role at United, but this saga now seems somewhat more up in the air.

On top of everything else, it's understood that Mendes could also still be open to signing a new deal with PSG, so it's hard to predict the outcome of this saga at the moment.

MUFC will no doubt keep pushing to try to land the talented 22-year-old, but one imagines the player himself would view the likes of City and Madrid as more tempting projects right now.

Amorim desperately needs his own signings to help turn things around at Old Trafford, so he'll no doubt be hoping the club can deliver a top talent like Mendes.

If not, we know United have alternatives lined up in that position, as Fabrizio Romano recently informed us.

Romano says Milos Kerkez and Patrick Dorgu will also be names to watch for United, and one imagines fans would be pretty happy with either of those two, even if Mendes seems like the strongest option out there at the moment.
