TBR Football understand Napoli would like to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United – but actually prefer Marcus Rashford.
The Italian giants – who are currently sitting top of Serie A – look set to lose Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this month after Antonio Conte confirmed the Georgia international wants to leave Naples.
Keen to keep their title ambitions alive in case the Georgian superstar departs, Napoli are now exploring potential replacements for the 23-year-old.
Alejandro Garnacho is a target for Conte – although sources have now informed TBR Football that Napoli would prefer to take a different Manchester United player in Marcus Rashford.
Napoli want Marcus Rashford as Alejandro Garnacho prefers move to Spain
Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent at TBR Football – has now been told that the Argentina international is admired by Napoli, but would prefer a move to La Liga.
Sources add that Napoli themselves do not view Garnacho as their number one choice either, with those in Naples preferring to seal a deal for Rashford ahead of the South American.
TBR Football are aware that Ruben Amorim feels Garnacho is a poor fit for his 3-4-3 formation, with the Manchester United No.17 himself also unsettled at Old Trafford.
If Napoli are to sign Rashford – however – they will have to fend off strong competition.
TBR Football understand West Ham are pushing to sign Rashford on loan for Graham Potter – while AC Milan are also keen on the England international.
For those wondering if either Garnacho or Rashford could be used in a swap deal with Kvaratskhelia, Manchester United sources have played down any suggestion of that happening.
Napoli will have to convince one of the Manchester United stars
Crucially, sources have also informed TBR Football that Rashford would prefer a move to Spain too – like Garnacho.
Therefore, it feels as if Napoli will have to persuade one of the Manchester United forwards to change their outlook on a move to Italy if a deal is going to progress this month.
In the meantime, Manchester United are looking to sign Randal Kolo Muani to improve the attacking department for Amorim – who has endured a tough start to life at Old Trafford.
