Jean-Pierre Papin remains coach of Marseille's reserves following conflict resolution talks
Today at 07:43 AM
According to a report by La Provence, the conflict behind the scenes at Olympique de Marseille between Jean-Pierre Papin and Ali Zarrak has been resolved by the club president Pablo Longoria.
There had been a threat of Papin walking away from his role as the head coach of the reserves team due to tensions between him and Zarrak the director of the Pro 2. However, Papin will continue in his role in the south of France including his position as a club ambassador, while Zarrak will reportedly have his position modified.
The director of the Pro 2 will no longer have daily contact with the reserves and will now instead concentrate on studying how European clubs train their reserves, scouting, and the transfer window. Papin had previously complained to the Marseille-based outlet over Zarrak interfering with his coaching decisions.
Marseille avoid former Ballon d’Or winner’s ultimatum
Papin had also implied that Marseille would have to choose between him or Zarrak, an ultimatum that looks to have been avoided after Longoria's intervention today.
