According to The Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, Hong Kong-American businessman Stanley Tang has held talks with Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish about acquiring a stake in the Premier League club. The billionaire is interested in acquiring the 46% stake currently owned by Lyon owner John Textor.
Textor is looking to sell his stake in the Selhurst Park club. The Eagle Football Group CEO was in talks to acquire Everton earlier this year but an inability to sell his stake in Crystal Palace scuppered any chance of him being able to complete a takeover of the Merseyside club. Still interested in acquiring a Premier League club, with Crystal Palace not for sale, selling his stakes would allow him to do this.
An avid poker player, Tang is said to be ‘highly ambitious’ in his attempts to acquire a stake in the Eagles and is ready to rival Sportsbank. In addition to his stake in Crystal Palace, Textor owns four football clubs. The American businessman has made no secret of his desire to own a club in the English top flight and he could be one step closer to doing this by selling his stakes to Tang.
