According to a report from Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain are not one of the clubs in the race to sign Sporting CP striker Victor Gyökeres (26). The Swedish international striker has attracted the interest of several clubs around Europe after a stellar start to the season with the Portuguese club.
Gyökeres is the top goalscorer in Europe, scoring 23 goals in just 17 appearances in all competitions. The former Coventry City striker has also registered 5 assists so far this season. After such an impressive array of performances, Les Parisiens would be expected to show an interest in the Sporting forward. However, this isn’t the case despite the 26-year-old being a priority target for the Ligue 1 champions in the summer transfer window.
Gyökeres a previous target
Luís Campos made enquiries about the availability of the striker, but it was Luis Enrique who asked for the discussions to stop – happy with the attacking options at his disposal. Fast forward to now, and it is the cost of the transfer that is putting PSG off a potential move for the Swede. Gyökeres is set to cost a fee in the region of €75m – €100m should he leave Sporting in the winter, Le Parisien understands. A pricetag of such magnitude is considered a risk by the French capital club.
