'Amazing': Tony Cascarino says Liverpool have a 'very special' player who now finds football 'quite easy'

Liverpool produced an unstoppable first half display against Bournemouth to secure another important win for Arne Slot.

Federico Chiesa made his Premier League debut, with the Italian appearing as a second-half substitute at Anfield.

By that stage the damage had already been done by the Liverpool attack, with Luis Diaz scoring a brace and Darwin Nunez scoring the other.

Anfield icon Luis Suarez loved Nunez's goal against Bournemouth, with the latter netting a superb strike on his first start under Slot.

Defenders Ibrahima Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold supplied the assists for Diaz, with Mohamed Salah then setting up Nunez.

Luis Diaz labelled 'terrific' by Tony Cascarino after Liverpool win vs Bournemouth

The Colombian is now the club's top scorer for the season with five goals, in what has been a stunning start to life under Slot.

Tony Cascarino has now shared his thoughts on the winger following the win over Bournemouth, saying on talkSPORT: "I was alarmed in the summer, and we had a chat about this at the time, when there were rumours of Diaz maybe leaving the football club. I was like 'Why?'

"There are not many wingers like him, where you never really know which way he's going to go. Because he'll cut inside and he'll drive at the goal, and he can be a little bit wasteful in his finishing, but he's a terrific footballer.

"He's one of those that you want to watch, you want younger generations to see him as well just to go 'Have a look what this lad is like when he gets in certain situations'.

"Because he plays with his heart on his sleeve when he plays football, and I think he's been a massive plus. He had a really bad injury for a period, and I wasn't quite sure how he'd come back from the injury he had. But he's come back, and this season he looks absolutely on fire.

"He's been easily Liverpool's best forward so far, easily. Not just with his goals, his performances. He just runs at people."

Tony Cascarino says football is 'quite easy' for Luis Diaz at Liverpool

Diaz has been in blistering form since day one under Slot, with the Anfield faithful undoubtedly glad they didn't lose the winger this summer.

The Colombian may have been fearing a lack of minutes under the Dutchman before the campaign got underway, such are the superb attacking options available.

But Diaz now looks undroppable at Liverpool, although he is certain to be rested in the coming weeks given the need for Slot to rotate.

The Reds have had a busy week, with their packed schedule continuing with a League Cup clash against West Ham on Wednesday.

Diaz banged in two goals in the first two league matches last time out under Jurgen Klopp, but it took him a while to consistently find the back of the net.

When asked if Slot is now playing a factor in his goal returns, Cascarino said: "Look, having the backing of a manager and selecting him straight in the lineup helps, but with that his confidence is high as a kite, he's sky-rocketed.

"Because he's doing what he does best, when he runs at someone and when the ball comes into him in tight situations, he just suddenly twists and gets out of it and he's gone. He does moments where you'll say to someone next to you 'Did you see what he just did, he just eliminated two players'.

"I've seen [Pedro] Neto do that, he could do that, that sort of movement where he just wriggles out of it. I'm seeing [Jeremy] Doku do that at Man City, there are a number of wingers who can do it, but Diaz is a very special talent, that if he is confident as well, I think the game is quite easy for him, he's just got that amazing ability, technically."
