The last few years have shown that Liverpool have some incredible talent bubbling away in their academy.
Although the Reds have seen some top, top players come through the youth ranks at Anfield, the stream of quality youngsters coming through had starting to somewhat dry up during the 2010’s.
After plenty of hard work from staff – and some expert recruitment – the Liverpool academy is once again one of the very best in the country.
Part of the reason for that has been Liverpool’s ability to convince young players that Anfield is the best place for their development.
The most exciting prospect currently on Liverpool’s books is Rio Ngumoha, who was persuaded to swap Chelsea for the Reds last summer and has already made his senior debut.
Another who could soon follow him is 18-year-old Kieran Morrison. Signed from Manchester United and joining at U14 level, Morrison is one more to have jumped a rival ship for the bright lights of Liverpool. And judging by a training clip released on Wednesday, the midfielder is very much one to watch.
Kieran Morrison shows training quality
Those who pay attention to the academy will not be surprised to hear that Morrison has been doing bits.
Here at Rousing The Kop, we tipped Morrison to explode in 2025 and become a breakout star for Arne Slot. There’s good reason for that.
For those who don’t regularly watch the young Reds – and even for those who do – there was an insight on Wednesday as Liverpool released a surprise Inside Training video featuring the academy.
During the video, the Reds best young talents can be seen strutting their stuff at the Liverpool training ground.

And although there are good moments for the likes of Trent Kone-Doherty, Keyrol Figueroa and the returning Kaide Gordon, it is Morrison who steals the show.
While the full video features some excellent finishing from the youngster off both feet, Liverpool’s official X account also posted a video of Morrison executing a wonderful backheel turn and finish which drew gasps from those watching. He really looks a talent.
What kind of player is Kieran Morrison?
Morrison has been training with Liverpool’s first-team already after Jurgen Klopp brought him into the fold last season.
This time, the Reds’ young players have been a little harder pushed to join the seniors under Slot.
Competition | Apperances | Goals | Assists |
Premier League 2 | 11 | 2 | 4 |
EFL Trophy | 1 | 0 | 0 |
UEFA Youth League | 5 | 2 | 0 |
FA Youth Cup | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Nevertheless, there is an argument that Morrison would actually suit the new Liverpool head coach’s system more than he would Klopp’s.
As per liverpoolfc.com’s profile on him, Morrison is a ‘creative attacking midfield player.’ There is certainly room for another one of those in Slot’s Liverpool squad.
If Morrison can keep producing moments of magic on a consistent basis in training, there’s no reason he can’t push through for a senior debut in 2025.
