Liverpool secured a routine 3-0 win against Bournemouth in the Premier League as they put their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest behind them at Anfield in some style.

A first-half brace from Luis Diaz and a fantastic left-footed strike from Darwin Nunez in his first start of the season spearheaded the Reds to all three points.

Speaking after the game, Andy Robertson was full of praise for Liverpool’s two goalscorers as they produced a clinical showing in front of their own fans.

Diaz broke the deadlock as he skipped past Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to put the ball into the back of the net.

Moments later, he found himself in a fantastic position inside the penalty area and doubled Liverpool’s advantage.

Nunez put the icing on the cake with a curling effort in the 37th minute as Bournemouth were pegged back by the home side thanks to a blistering 11-minute spell.

Robertson lauded Diaz and Nunez for their performances as the Reds returned to winning ways after a lacklustre showing against Forest in their previous league encounter.

“Obviously last week it was disappointing, but we managed to bounce back Tuesday [against AC Milan] – it was about getting back on track in the league.

“Darwin [Nunez] has had to be patient. He has worked hard in training, trying to get better like we all have,” Robertson said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He has waited for his chance and today he was excellent.

“Luis [Diaz] has started the season really well, delighted for those two.

“He [Nunez] was waiting for his chance and he took it today.”
