Virgil van Dijk sets the standard at Liverpool

There is a lot more to being a top player than just producing on matchday and Virgil van Dijk is very much a perfect captain at Liverpool.

The Dutchman does a lot of work off the field with different foundations for the Reds and he’s also a standard setter among the squad.

Indeed, that’s been confirmed recently by young full-back Conor Bradley, who has lauded his captain’s example.

"My captain at the club Virgil is quite a role model with the way he conducts himself every day,” Bradley has said.

“In training every day he is always one of the best players and that's someone I aspire to be in how he conducts himself every day and how he leads by example.

"He would probably be one of the main role models for me."

Furthermore, Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven has also lauded Van Dijk, with the Dutch duo beginning to work well together at international level.

Van Dijk, then, very much remains one of the best around despite being into his 30s.
