Liverpool manager Arne Slot was forced to hand a debut to Vitezslav Jaros in the narrow victory over Crystal Palace.

Slot had to turn to Jaros in the 79th minute against the Eagles after Liverpool number one Alisson was forced off with an injury.

Jaros impressed Slot against Crystal Palace, with the 23-year-old continuing the fine work that Alisson had been doing on the day.

The Reds remain top of the Premier League table with the victory, with Diogo Jota netting the only goal of the game at Selhurst Park.

Jaros endured a 'stressful' Liverpool debut, but he will be delighted to have finally made his first appearance for the Anfield club.

Liverpool congratulated Jaros on Instagram after he made his debut, with former Reds goalkeeping coach John Achterberg also getting involved, saying: "Great for Vite after a great season at Sturm Graz."

Arne Slot will want swift Alisson return at Liverpool

Jaros certainly wasn't as busy as Alisson, with the Brazilian making save after save to help deny the hosts.

But the former undoubtedly played his part, putting his defence at ease with a handful of top saves and claims.

His appearance came amid the absence of number two Caoimhin Kelleher, who is likely to fill in for Alisson upon his return to the squad.

The Brazilian will be a massive miss, but it seems that both Kelleher and Jaros are able deputies for the number one.

Slot will, however, want Alisson back in action as soon as possible, with the Liverpool icon proving just how crucial he is between the sticks on Saturday.
