Harvey Elliott says there's a Liverpool player he'd actually pick ahead of Mo Salah at five-a-side

The Liverpool squad is blessed with quality throughout at this current moment.
It may not have shone through during Wednesday’s Carabao Cup loss against Tottenham, but the Reds sit top of the Premier League for a reason.
One of the biggest factors has been the form of Mohamed Salah this season.
Salah has been ridiculously good all year, hitting 38 goal contributions in just 28 matches.
But despite the Egyptian being arguably the best player in the world just now, he clearly still needs to do a little more to fully impress Harvey Elliott.
Although Elliott is close to Salah, the 21-year-old chose a different Liverpool teammate as his first pick for a dream five-a-side squad.
Harvey Elliott snubs Mo Salah for Luis Diaz
Salah has been Liverpool’s best attacking player this season. Of that there can be little argument.
Some will point to Virgil van Dijk or perhaps Ryan Gravenberch as the player of the year overall, but Mo inarguably owns the forward line.
Nevertheless, according to Elliott, he is not the first player you’d want on your team in a five-a-side match.
The Liverpool No.19 was asked to pick a five-a-side squad from the Carabao Cup semi-finalists by the tournament’s official X account.

First landing on Tottenham, Elliott chooses pacy defender Micky van de Ven. With Newcastle next up, the youngster opts for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
From Arsenal, Elliott goes with Martin Odegaard’s playmaking, while it was interesting that when asked to choose from Liverpool, the England U21 man had little hesitation in selecting Luis Diaz.
For the fifth and final pick the wheel landed on Liverpool again, and Elliott did belatedly pick his good friend Salah.
Luis Diaz the right choice from Elliott
Although you could rely on Salah to find the net during five-a-side, you can imagine Diaz being an absolute menace on a small-sided pitch.
The Colombian is as skilful as they come, wiry, strong and pacy too.
Goals | Assists | Chances Created | Dribble Success | Pass Accuracy | Duels Won | |
Mohamed Salah | 18 | 13 | 38 | 51.6% | 73.6% | 45.1% |
Luis Diaz | 8 | 2 | 24 | 45.8% | 87.0% | 36.9% |
Few can get the better of him during a full-sided game, but even with less space to work in, you can see Lucho being impossible to stop.
Salah won’t be happy about this from Elliott, but he’ll have to make do with being Liverpool’s top goal scorer and assister this season instead.
