Inter Milan, Napoli and Atalanta will need a 'helping hand' from Liverpool if they are to sign Federico Chiesa in the January transfer window.

That's according to La Stampa, relayed by FC Inter News, who say Liverpool would need to pay a percentage of the forward's wages if he was to return to Italy this month.

The newspaper reports that a return to his homeland is seen as the ideal solution for Chiesa after a miserable time in Liverpool since moving in the summer.

Inter, Napoli and Atalanta have all made it clear that they are interested in a potential move and are ready to compete for him, but the 'real problem' is the wages he earns at Anfield.

He has a deal worth €7.5m a year until 2028 with Liverpool and that is a figure which all of the Italian suitors would find difficult to match. Even a six-month loan would prove too difficult if Liverpool didn't offer a helping hand.

If, however, the Reds offer to contribute to part of the 27-year-old's salary until the end of the season, then a six-month loan deal is very much a possibility.
