Mikel Arteta makes 'nonsense' claim about the Premier League title race between Liverpool and Arsenal

With Manchester City seemingly out of the running, the Premier League title race looks set to be between Arsenal and Liverpool this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side are going through their first-ever blip under the Spaniard and have been hampered by injuries to Rodri and other key players.
Liverpool and Arsenal, on the other hand, are separated by six points in the Premier League table as the Reds lead the way despite having a game in hand.
The gap may look unassailable at this point, but Mikel Arteta has shared his candid thoughts on the title race with nearly half the season played.
Mikel Arteta suggests Liverpool will drop points
Over the last two seasons, Arsenal have been strong contenders for the Premier League table and gave Manchester City a run for their money.
However, on both occasions, the Cityzens came out on top as the Gunners faltered at the business end of the season.
Arsenal are yet to win the Premier League title under Arteta, but the Spaniard feels his side have enough experience as he seemed to suggest that nothing is decided at this stage of the season.

“Because what can Liverpool do? We were in that position,” said Arteta in an interview with Sky Sports.
“Two years ago we had 50 points in the first leg and then didn’t manage to win the league. It can happen to any team, it’s so tough.
“We are only halfway and already the amount of talking we have expensed for weeks and weeks and weeks about the title race? It’s nonsense.
“Because there are a lot of games to play and in this league, it can be one, two, three [results] and everything is changed. We have to be ready.”
Slot also tight-lipped about Liverpool’s title hopes
Jamie Carragher feels Liverpool will win the league this season, but Slot has refused to let the Reds’ start to the season get to his head.
When asked if his side are favourites to win the Premier League after their win against Leicester, the Dutchman said it was far too early to be making such claims.
He said via Sky Sports: “It’s far too early to already be celebrating but it is of course nice for us to be the team we are.
“We know we are able to do this. But I don’t think there was any easy win for us in all these games. It could have been an easy win against Tottenham but then we conceded two and it was 5-3.
“That tells you how difficult it is to win if all your players are available, let alone if somewhere during the season you pick up some injuries or suspensions.”
