'I can honestly say': Michael Owen says Liverpool fans do something that he's never experienced elsewhere

Liverpool fans are rightfully considered some of the best in the Premier League, with the Anfield atmosphere considered the stuff of legend.
With Xabi Alonso recently praising Liverpool fans after Bayer Leverkusen’s fixture on Merseyside, the Reds’ faithful have formed quite a reputation for themselves for being one of the loudest and passionate in all of England.
With Arne Slot tapping into the support of Liverpool fans to inspire the squad to one of their best starts ever, the Reds could enjoy one of their most successful seasons in modern history in the Dutchman’s first year in charge in England.
And Michael Owen has now said Liverpool fans do one thing he’s not seen elsewhere in football.
Owen praises Liverpool fans for always supporting the team
Speaking to the Telegraph, the former Liverpool striker shared how amazed he is with fans of the Anfield side for never booing a player who has performed badly for several games or who has stepped out of line with supporters or the club.
With Mohamed Salah in the spotlight after his comments on his contract situation, the thought of Liverpool fans booing the winger feels impossible, and Owen has highlighted how he has yet to see a player receive such treatment.
Owen said when talking about going back to Liverpool now as a fan and a pundit: "I can honestly say in all the time I was a player and now a fan or pundit inside Anfield, I have never heard the supporters boo the players.
“They may get down after performances, but they don't turn on their team. Honestly, it is unlike many other stadiums. And, because they are loyal to their players, they naturally want and expect the same back.”
Liverpool players will never have better support than they do now
Liverpool is often regarded as a special club, and Owen is onto something with his comments on players never being booed unlike what happens with other big teams in the Premier League like Manchester United and Arsenal.
The Reds have endured some hard times in the Premier League era, yet even through the lows, the fans have stuck together with the squad and done all they can to support the team through the bad times and into the good.
And this season under Slot could award Liverpool fans with one of their best campaigns ever, with the Premier League and UEFA Champions League all realistic achievements for the Reds.
