Liverpool are back in Premier League action tomorrow as they prepare to host Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield, having just beaten them a few days ago in the Carabao Cup.

The Reds are a point below Manchester City in the Premier League standings and will look to record their eighth league win of the season to continue their strong start under Arne Slot.

Brighton, on the other hand, have also enjoyed a fantastic start to life under Fabian Hurzeler and will look to avenge their league cup loss.

But Paul Merson feels the Reds will have too much in the locker for the visitors tomorrow.

The Carabao Cup turned out to be an entertaining clash as Liverpool won by the odd goal in five after an eventful second half.

However, the game on Saturday promises to be a different ball game altogether as both players will bring key players back into their lineups, having rested them in midweek.

While Merson admits Brighton have been in fine form under their new manager, he doesn’t think they have been consistent enough to put up a fight at Anfield.

“Liverpool are going along nicely now,” wrote Merson in his column for Sportskeeda.

“They had a brilliant result in the cup against Brighton and I think they win again this weekend. Last week against Arsenal, I thought they produced a top performance to come from behind and get a draw.

“I look at Brighton and they are one of them teams – if they are hot, they’re really hot but if not, they struggle. This is a difficult game for Liverpool but I still expect them to show the quality and get the three points.”

Liverpool won the corresponding fixture 2-1 last season, but the Seagulls have beaten the Reds three times in their last ten meetings across all competitions, while three games have ended all square.

Hurzeler was convinced Brighton could get a positive result vs Liverpool in the Carabao Cup clash but that wasn’t to be the case.

However, the young manager has a chance to make amends almost immediately and will look to spoil the Reds’ party at Anfield tomorrow.
