'I will be right': ESPN pundit makes confident claim on Mo Salah an Trent Alexander-Arnold's Liverpool futures

With his contract set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season, Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool future has emerged as the talk of the town.
The Egyptian’s form, however, has suffered a dip by any stretch of the imagination as he continues to play a starring role for Arne Slot despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
Barcelona are lining up Salah on a free transfer, but Liverpool haven’t given up hope of tying him down to a new contract.
And Jan Aage Fjortoft has put his reputation on the line with a claim on the Egyptian’s future…
Jan Aage Fjortoft convinced Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool
At the start of the 2023-24 season, Salah was the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League in the dying embers of the summer transfer window.
It was a tumultuous time for the Anfield faithful as they feared their talisman was on his way out of the club.
At the time, Fjortoft risked the wrath of Liverpool fans on X as he appeared to suggest that Salah would leave the club.
However, that wasn’t to be the case and the Norwegian was left with an egg on his face as he was called out for jumping the gun.
And now, Fjortoft has once again put his neck on the line, claiming that both Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool in 2025, although he believes Virgil van Dijk will stay.
"He [Salah] was very close to leaving Liverpool last summer,” Fjortoft said on ESPN FC’s YouTube channel.
“From the players there, Alexander-Arnold will go to Real Madrid and Salah will leave Liverpool. Van Dijk will stay and I think I will be right in those cases."
Real Madrid want to sign Alexander-Arnold in 2025, whose contract – like Salah’s – expires at the end of the current season.
Who can Liverpool sign if Salah leaves?
Liverpool’s priority will be to renew Salah’s contract, but in the unlikely case of his departure, it remains to be seen who they decide to pursue.
Omar Marmoush has been linked with a move to Anfield, with the Egyptian believed to be keen to play alongside his compatriot Salah.
The Eintracht Frankfurt attacker wouldn’t be a like-for-like replacement for Salah, but he has been the only forward who has been reliably linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months.
