The January transfer window shuts in two weeks, with Liverpool yet to bring in a new signing.

The Reds have been linked with a number of exciting names with Liverpool identifying Milos Kerkez as their long-term successor to Andy Robertson whilst Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has re-emerged as a target for Arne Slot’s side.

With FC Barcelona interested in signing Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool future up in the air, there’s a real chance that the Anfield side could enter the market at some point in 2025 to bring in a new array of attackers, with PSG also making Mohamed Salah their main target for the summer.

And as a result, Liverpool scouts are now keeping a close eye on one English forward who could be signed this year.

Liverpool scouts giving ‘special attention’ to Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool scouts are keeping a close eye on Jamie Gittens ongoing situation at Borussia Dortmund, with the England youth international enjoying a breakout season in Germany despite the Bundesliga giants struggling massively under new manager Nuri Sahin.

Gittens has been linked with Liverpool already this January with Dortmund valuing the former Manchester City academy prospect at €100m (£83m), with a potential sale on the cards in the summer if the German side misses out on UEFA Champions League qualification.

And Liverpool could win the race for Gittens, with Romano saying: "Borussia Dortmund want to keep the player and see him as a crucial part of their season. But in case something crazy happens or in the summer, Chelsea and Liverpool are monitoring the situation.

“Chelsea have made some contact to ask about the situation of the player. Liverpool are at this point monitoring the player in terms of scouting, so they have special attention, so let's see what is going to happen next."

Who could Gittens realistically join this summer?

With 11 goals and five assists in all competitions, Gittens is firmly on his way to stardom after an impressive breakout year with Dortmund, with Liverpool’s interest in the 20-year-old winger more than justified.

Yet as Romano himself puts it, the Reds aren’t the only club interested in signing the London-born talent, with Dietmar Hamann suggesting that Gittens joins Bayern Munich as the latest Dortmund superstar to make the switch to the Bundesliga giants.

Indeed, Gittens’ future is hard to predict at this stage, yet with Liverpool set for an attacking reshuffle later this year, the England youth international could be a dream signing for the Reds and a player who could add a lot of value to Slot’s side heading into next season.
