Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market in 2025 as they aim to improve their squad under Arne Slot.
The Dutchman has already made a massive impact at Anfield since taking over the reigns from Jurgen Klopp and is expected to be backed with a few signings.
Liverpool refrained from splashing the cash in the summer transfer window, but with Slot having a better idea of his players, he could decide to chop and change.
Nottingham Forest’s Murillo has been liked with a move to Liverpool, with the Reds on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.
And now, Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol has delivered an update on the defender’s future.
Liverpool target Murillo in talks over contract extension
Murillo has been in fine form for Forest as they continue to defy expectations under Nuno Espirito Santo.
After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Forest are second in the Premier League currently and are just six points behind the Reds.

Murillo has played a key role for the club since joining for £15m last season from Corinthians, attracting interest from the Reds.
With Virgil van Dijk facing an uncertain future and the likes of Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate suffering regular injuries, Liverpool made Murillo one of their top targets in 2025.
However, Forest have initiated contract extension talks with the defender as they aim to tie him down at the club for the long haul.
“Murillo is in talks over a contract extension at Nottingham Forest,” said Solhekol on Sky Sports.
“Forest signed the centre-back from Corinthians in a £15m deal in August 2023. His current deal runs until the summer of 2028.
“He has become a key player at the club, helping Forest challenge for a top-four place this season. Discussions are over an extension which would keep him at Forest for four and a half years.
“The 22-year-old is expected to return to the starting XI against Wolves tonight after recovering from an adductor injury.”
Asking price for Murillo set
The 22-year-old is one of the brightest defensive prospects in the country but could cost a fortune even if Forest reluctantly agree to a sale.
Murilo is valued at around £70m and his value could soar if he continues on the same trajectory between now and the end of the season.
With Forest in talks to extend his contract, Liverpool face an uphill battle to sign the Brazilian international in the upcoming transfer windows.
