'Keep an eye on': Liverpool have been tracking 'hugely talented' La Liga player for ages - journalist

Liverpool are looking into options to bolster their defence as we approach another transfer market.
Having failed to sign a centre-back since 2021, the Reds had been expected to bring in a new addition over the summer.
However, the Liverpool owners chose to keep their powder dry instead, opting to go with what they already had.
So far, that has proven to be a good call. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk have conceded just six goals across ten and-a-half Premier League matches.
Nevertheless, with Van Dijk 33-years-old and yet to sign a new deal regardless, Liverpool know they need to have a succession plan in place.
As a result, the Reds have been looking at different players who could serve that purpose. Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is on Liverpool’s radar but according to journalist Graeme Bailey, Arne Slot has another young centre-back in his sights, too.
Liverpool tracking Cristhian Mosquera
Murillo would look like a good option for Liverpool. However, the 22-year-old would not come cheap.
As Bailey exclusively told Rousing The Kop earlier this week, Liverpool may have to spend ‘Van Dijk money’ on signing Murillo.
Consequently, the Reds might also look for a cheaper option. And once again speaking to Rousing The Kop, Bailey says that Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera has caught Liverpool’s attention.
“Mosquera is a hugely talented player, only 20, already played a lot of games for Valencia,” says the transfer expert.

“He’s one Liverpool have been following for a little more time than we’d initially thought, actually.
“He’s an interesting one, one of the best young options out there,” Bailey continues.
“He won’t be hugely expensive, so, I think he’s an interesting name to keep an eye on. He’s playing at a high level and has been since he was 18. He’s surprisingly got a lot more interest than we’d thought.”
Liverpool also looking at Yarek Gasiorowski
As it turns out, Mosquera is not the only Valencia defender Liverpool are taking a closer look at.
Continuing in conversation with Rousing The Kop, Bailey explains that the Reds are also aware of Mosquera’s 19-year-old teammate Yarek Gasiorowksi.
“There’s three good young centre-halves at Valencia: Gasiorowski, [Cesar] Tarrega and Mosquera,” says the journalist.

“Mosquera is the one who’s probably going to go but their scouts are well aware of what’s coming through at Valencia. Gasiorowski has been on their radar but I think he’d be more of a project whereas Mosquera would be ready to go.”
Mosquera is certainly the more experienced of the two players, featuring in every minute of Valencia’s 11 La Liga games so far this season.
Playing in-front of Liverpool’s goalkeeper-in-waiting Giorgi Mamardashvili, you can see why Mosquera would have caught the Reds’ eye. However, it should be noted that Valencia are having a terrible campaign, sitting bottom of the table with seven points from 11 games.
