Liverpool were certainly quiet in the summer transfer window, with much of their efforts focused on players leaving.

Several youngsters were moved on by Arne Slot and the Liverpool chiefs before the season got underway, either on loan or permanently.

Federico Chiesa was the only player signed, with Giorgi Mamardashvili set to arrive at Anfield next summer.

Chiesa has had fitness issues since joining Liverpool, with the attacker not involved in the latest clash against Crystal Palace.

His fellow forward Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the game at Selhurst Park, keeping the Reds top of the Premier League table.

Vitezslav Jaros impresses on Liverpool debut

It was another important step under Slot, but the visitors did suffer a huge blow with the injuries to Alisson and Alexis Mac Allister, with both going off early at Selhurst Park.

And with Caoimhin Kelleher missing out against Palace due to illness, Vitezslav Jaros was the player brought on to replace Alisson.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper was making his Liverpool debut, with Jaros impressing Slot with his brief cameo.

He did what was required under immense pressure from the hosts, much to the delight of the Liverpool defenders, with another clean sheet recorded.

Liverpool right to reject Caoimhin Kelleher offer

Jaros is, however, likely to drop out for Kelleher once the Republic of Ireland international returns to action.

Alisson is seemingly set for another spell on the sidelines, but the Anfield faithful know they can rely on Kelleher to fill the gap given his efforts between the sticks last season.

The Reds number two was strongly linked with an exit from Merseyside in the summer, with Liverpool rejecting Nottingham Forest's bid for the 'world-class' Kelleher.

And that should prove to be a fantastic decision, with Kelleher set for plenty of minutes on the pitch in the weeks and potentially months to come.

There is now the added bonus of knowing that Jaros is capable of acting as a number two to the Irishman, with Slot's squad depth certain to be tested after the international break.
