Saudi Arabia entered football in a big way last year, and Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are now both targets for the Middle Eastern state.

Both Anfield stars are due to become free-agents at the end of this season, with Salah and Van Dijk seemingly no closer to renewing their current deals with Liverpool amid strong interest from Saudi Arabian sides.

Salah has faced strong interest from Saudi Arabia, in particular, with Liverpool last year rejecting a British record transfer offer worth £150m for the Egyptian international, who looks set to leave Merseyside for nothing next year.

And Al-Ahli are now planning something to convince Salah and Van Dijk to move to the Saudi Pro League.

Three-year contracts to be offered to Salah and Van Dijk

According to CaughtOffside, the Middle Eastern giants will offer both Salah and Van Dijk huge three-year long contracts with the option of an extra year in an attempt to convince the Liverpool pair to make the move.

With Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino already on their books along with England international Ivan Toney and Riyad Mahrez, Al-Ahli certainly have the star power to attract the likes of Salah and Van Dijk to their cause.

Moreover, in the case of Salah, the Saudi Pro League are intent on signing the Liverpool winger given his huge star power in the Muslim world and how much of a draw the Egyptian international would be for the league.

Indeed, Salah and Van Dijk heading to Saudi Arabia would be a massive shame for Liverpool, and with time still on the board, the Reds need to be doing all they can to ensure the duo remain at Anfield.

Liverpool simply can’t lose both Salah and Van Dijk in 2025

2025 is shaping up to be a massive year for Liverpool with Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all currently set to become free-agents if their contracts are not sorted by the end of the season.

And for Liverpool, they simply can’t afford to lose both Salah and Van Dijk in 2025, with the duo too important for the Reds and both way too good to be moving to Saudi Arabia just yet in their careers.

With one or the other likely to leave, a decision has to be made by Liverpool on who is more valuable for Arne Slot, and it is a decision that will take some time to decide on for the Anfield giants in the coming weeks.
