Liverpool are heading towards a busy summer transfer window.

Arne Slot only saw Federico Chiesa added to his Liverpool squad last summer and as a result, the Reds have money to spend on new signings ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The build-up to the transfer window will be dominated by the contract situations of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and should the Merseyside club tie most of them down to new deals, that will save the Premier League leaders a lot of work.

The last week of performances have highlighted that Liverpool have problems in their forward line and major changes could be about to happen in this area of Slot’s squad over the coming.

The Reds could lose several stars ahead of next season with the possibility of two major names heading for the exit door at Anfield.

Liverpool ready to sell Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz

This season has been a struggle for Darwin Nunez and after Liverpool received a £62.5m offer from Al-Nassr in January, it is not a surprise that the Reds are willing to part ways with the Uruguayan this summer.

Losing Luis Diaz however, would be a shock to Liverpool fans as the Colombian has been a key part of Reds teams since arriving from Porto in 2022 as part of a £49m deal.

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Diaz’s exit is a possibility this summer and speaking to Anfield Index, David Lynch has said that the Premier League leaders will accept any big offers for the winger ahead of the new season.

“A couple of months ago, I would have said Liverpool would like to avoid any real churn in that area. Maybe you’d see Nunez go and maybe one brought in to replace him,” the Liverpool reporter said.

“I almost feel like it’s going to end up being unavoidable for Liverpool, because if a decent offer comes in for Diaz with his level of production, you just know, considering his age and his contract situation, you just know Liverpool would consider it. There’s no question about that.”

“If a decent fee comes in for him, I’m pretty sure that Liverpool are minded to accept it. We know that is definitely the case with Darwin Nunez, and we do expect him to leave.”

Lynch has admitted that he has concerns over Liverpool’s forward area as a whole heading into the 2025/26 season as the South American duo are not the only two stars who may leave.

Liverpool’s forward options becoming a concern

Liverpool have been linked to Alexander Isak in recent weeks as it has become clear that the Newcastle star is the Merseyside club’s number-one striker target.

The Reds board are starting to prepare for the summer transfer window as they have become aware that several forward stars could leave Anfield, which Lynch points out.

“You throw on top of that Chiesa, who is not going to be happy with the minutes he’s getting. Does an Italian club come in and kind of look to pinch him?” the Liverpool journalist stated.

“And then Salah’s contract is still not signed. So, you very, very quickly, getting into an area where you’re looking at so many of those players and those forwards futures being in doubt.”

Slot has relied on his forward line a lot this season at Anfield and for the 2025/26 campaign, the Dutch coach will be expecting options of a similar quality or better.
