'One big rondo': £34m Liverpool player suggests last night's game against Real Madrid was surprisingly easy

Liverpool secured one of their biggest wins of the season with a 2-0 victory against European champions Real Madrid.
Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo were both on the scoresheet as the Reds made light work of Los Blancos, with Liverpool defender Conor Bradley keeping Kylian Mbappe quiet in spectacular fashion at the back.
With Caoimhin Kelleher now confident about facing Manchester City on Sunday, Liverpool are in the right state of mind to pick up another historic result later this week when the reigning Premier League champions come to Merseyside.
And midfielder Ryan Gravenberch made a quite humorous suggestion about Liverpool’s win against Madrid.
Gravenberch compares facing Real Madrid to playing rondo
Speaking to Ziggo Sport after the game, the Dutch international likened playing against Madrid to doing a rondo training drill, with Gravenberch noting that Los Blancos were easy to go up against after Mbappe’s penalty miss.
Gravenberch said about Liverpool’s performance: "We dominated Real Madrid, especially in the second half. We barely gave any chances away. Kelleher saved the penalty and after that it became one big rondo on the pitch, if I can say that.”
With Jamie Carragher naming Liverpool as the best team in the world after the 2-0 win, it’s perhaps no real surprise that Gravenberch likened the match to a training session given how comfortable the Reds were against Madrid.
And with Liverpool now top of the UEFA Champions League standings, Arne Slot will feel confident in his team going all the way in the competition, with the Reds looking like heavy favourites to win this year’s tournament.

Liverpool find themselves as the outright leaders in the Champions League after last night’s win at Anfield, with the Reds making Carlo Ancelotti’s side look ordinary in a manner that Madrid haven’t experienced in some years.
And after last night’s result, every team in the Champions League will now fear Liverpool and potentially facing them in the next round of the competition, with the Reds easily the side to beat this season in Europe.
And Liverpool will want to use this feat to their advantage, with the Merseyside giants no doubt eyeing a seventh Champions League title alongside a second Premier League win.
