Liverpool had a quiet summer despite some obvious holes in the squad that needed filling by sporting director Richard Hughes.

Just the two signings were made in the transfer window in Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa, the former of which was loaned back out to Valencia for the remainder of the season with Alisson Becker the clear no. 1.

Although Liverpool did attempt to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, the arrival of Chiesa was the only deal the Reds made for this season, with Arne Slot revealing that the Italian international is struggling with fitness issues.

Yet Liverpool seemingly made a bid to sign another attacker who is highly rated in South America and now Europe.

Liverpool had £8m bid rejected for Chile wonderkid Dario Osorio

According to Tipsbladet, Liverpool saw a bid worth as much as 75m Danish Kroner (£8m) rejected by FC Midtjylland for 20-year-old winger Dario Osorio, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young attackers in football.

Hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by Kevin Mbabu as per Emol, Osorio moved to Denmark last year from Chile with the forward becoming quite the hit in the Danish Superliga, with the youngster attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool.

As per Tipsbladet’s report, though, Midtjylland had no intention of selling Osorio this summer, with the Scandinavian side confident that they can recoup a huge fee from the Chile international in 2025 if the winger can once again impress in Denmark.

Indeed, Osorio is still trying to find his feet in the European game, yet with Liverpool making a decent-sized bid for the youngster this summer, there’s a chance that the Reds could come back in for the attacker next year if his development continues to sky rocket.

Osorio will want to win a Premier League move for 2025

Osorio has been on the scene for quite some time, with the attacker taking his talents to Denmark last year and becoming a star for Midtjylland in the process like many predicted from the youngster.

And heading into 2025, Osorio will be set on winning a move to the Premier League having seen an offer from Liverpool rejected this summer, a clear sign that the winger isn’t ready for a switch to England just yet.

Another year at Midtjylland could be what Osorio needs to become ready for the Reds, and news that a bid was made will only motivate the forward to do even better for his club in the coming weeks.
