Liverpool have been successful users of the loan market in recent years, with Ben Doak’s success this season a notable high-point.
The Scottish international has been a sensation for Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough side since joining in the summer, with Doak lauded for making the Championship look like a playground at times with the winger tearing the English second-tier apart.
With Doak attracting a £15m bid from Crystal Palace, Liverpool will be proud of their decision to loan out the 19-year-old, who this season has grown leaps and bounds and established himself as a real star for the future with the Reds.
Yet Doak isn’t the only youngster Liverpool staff have been impressed with this season out on loan.
Lewis Koumas catching the eye of Liverpool out on loan with Stoke City
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have been impressed with Lewis Koumas‘ loan spell with Stoke City, with the 19-year-old attacker becoming a regular for the Potters in what has been a turbulent year for the Championship side.
As per the report, Koumas’ performances have caught the eye of Championship heavyweights Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion, who have made enquiries about signing the Welsh international this January.
Lewis Koumas’ Stoke City stats | Games played | Goals | Assists |
Championship | 25 | 3 | 1 |
League Cup | 4 | 1 | 1 |
Total | 29 | 4 | 2 |
Koumas was once lauded as a ‘massive talent’ by Jurgen Klopp with the teenager already scoring his first professional goal for the Reds in his one and only appearance for Liverpool last season in the League Cup.
And with the versatile attacker now turning heads in the Championship, Liverpool could have yet another potential superstar on their hands in Koumas, who could break into Arne Slot’s first-team plans or net the Reds a tidy profit in the future.
Liverpool have a big decision to make with Koumas this summer
Koumas has made a big impact at Stoke this season, with the winger earning his first senior call-up for the Wales national team and now catching the attention of two big teams in the division in Sheffield United and West Brom.
And with the summer on the horizon, Liverpool have a big decision to make when it comes to Koumas’ future, with the forward showing glimpses of real promise despite his numbers not lighting up the world.
Indeed, Koumas could become a good player for a good side in the years to come, and if an offer was to be made in the summer, Liverpool could feel tempted to allow the teenager to leave for greener pastures.
