Report: 'Mini Salah' has clause in his contract which could now make it difficult for Liverpool to sign him

Mohamed Salah has been the best player in the Premier League by some distance this season for Liverpool
Leading the goalscoring and assist charts, the Egyptian international has been a one-man wrecking-ball for the Reds this season, with Salah on course to enjoy his best season yet with Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot

With the winger’s contract situation still unresolved, though, there’s a growing chance that Salah could leave Liverpool for nothing at the end of the season if the Reds fail in their mission to tie the 32-year-old attacker to a new deal.
And in potential replacement Bryan Mbeumo, Liverpool could now struggle to land the Brentford attacker.
Brentford have clause to extend Mbeumo’s contract to 2027
According to the Evening Standard, Brentford have a clause in Mbeumo’s current contract that could allow the west London side to keep the Cameroon international in west London until 2027, dealing Slot a big blow in their bid to sign the forward.
Liverpool have been linked with Mbeumo this season with the 25-year-old attacker one of the most productive goalscorers in the Premier League this campaign with 13 goals, with only Salah and Erling Haaland scoring more than the former France international.
With Jason Cundy lauding Mbeumo as a ‘Mini-Salah’ via TalkSport, the Brentford superstar ticks all the boxes Liverpool are looking for in a potential replacement for the Egyptian international if the winger was to leave Anfield.
However, with Mbeumo having a clause in his contract that could keep him with Thomas Frank’s side for another two years, Liverpool might have to look elsewhere for a successor to Salah if the nightmare timeline does indeed play out this summer.
Who else could Liverpool target to replace Salah?
The thought of replacing Salah is one that no Liverpool fans wants to even think about, with the attacker too good to be considered even leaving Anfield this summer let alone needed a successor for next season.
Yet that’s the situation the Reds have found themselves in heading into the summer, yet rumours have been quite exciting, with Liverpool interested in the likes of Athletic Club superstar and Spanish international Nico Williams.
With Liverpool also in the mix for Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jamie Gittens, the Anfield side are making good precautionary steps in the market if Salah were to leave this year, with Mbeumo seemingly off the table for now.
