Liverpool and Real Madrid have often clashed in the transfer window, and this summer appears to be no different.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Madrid whilst Los Blancos are interested in Dean Huijsen, a player Liverpool are chasing this summer as a potential long-term replacement for club captain Virgil van Dijk.
With Madrid also keeping tabs on Ibrahima Konate, Liverpool could have to deal with the reigning European champions on more than one occasion in the transfer window as Arne Slot looks to improve his squad.
Yet it appears that Liverpool have beaten Madrid already to one potential target heading into the summer.

Real Madrid told that Jeremie Frimpong is joining Liverpool
According to Defensa Central, an intermediary has told Madrid that Jeremie Frimpong will be joining Liverpool this summer, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side viewing the Bayer Leverkusen start if a deal for Alexander-Arnold collapsed.
Frimpong has been linked with a move to Liverpool for nearly a year, with the former Celtic and Manchester City youngster viewed by Slot as the ideal replacement for Alexander-Arnold should the defender leave.
Described by Xabi Alonso as a ‘special’ player, Frimpong’s £33m release clause also makes the Dutch international an appealing prospect for Liverpool, who will want to find the best deal possible when it comes to signing a new right-back.
And with Madrid now being told that Frimpong is heading to Liverpool, the Reds appear to be in the driving seat for the 24-year-old defender, who could be ready to take the Premier League by storm under Slot.
Jeremie Frimpong is the most obvious replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold
Frimpong has been one of the best fullbacks in Europe in the last two seasons, with the defender playing an integral role for Alonso’s Leverkusen in their unbeaten double-winning year last campaign.
And when it comes to who Liverpool should sign to replace Alexander-Arnold, Frimpong is the most obvious candidate, with the electric fullback a player who is well-suited to Slot’s system and what the Dutchman wants from a right-back.
Indeed, Liverpool beating the likes of Madrid to Frimpong is quite the feat, and with one big signing seemingly wrapped up, the Reds can now move on to other targets and areas of the pitch that need work this summer.
