Report: What Luis Diaz really thinks of Liverpool's contract offer amid transfer interest from Barcelona

Liverpool are engulfed in something of a contract crisis with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk all set to become free-agents this summer.
The Reds have struggled to reach any sort of agreement to keep the trio at Anfield beyond this season, with Alexander-Arnold still strongly rumoured with a move to Real Madrid as Salah has again issued a cryptic message surrounding his Liverpool future.
Away from the three superstars, though, is Luis Diaz, one of six Liverpool players Rousing The Kop exclusively revealed the Reds are talking to in regards to a new contract, with the Colombian international attracting interest from FC Barcelona.
And the Catalan giants might now have a real chance of landing Diaz based on new information.
Diaz not satisfied with Liverpool’s recent contract proposals
According to Mundo Deportivo, Diaz is not pleased with Liverpool’s recent contract proposals, with the winger feeling like the offers presented greatly undervalue the impact the former FC Porto star has actually had on the squad.
Diaz is on course to enjoy his best season yet for Liverpool with Arne Slot reinventing the wide-attacker into a centre-forward, a tactical switch that has produced fantastic results this campaign, most notably a hat-trick performance against Bayer Leverkusen.
With Diaz one of the most featured players for Liverpool in 2024, the 27-year-old’s importance to the squad has only grown this season, with Slot taking the Colombian international’s performances to new levels.
And with Liverpool failing to make a contract offer that Diaz feels reflects his performances with the Reds, Barcelona could sniff an opportunity to make a move for the winger this year, even with the La Liga giants once again struggling with financial problems.
Liverpool cannot underestimate Barcelona’s interest in Diaz
Barcelona might once again be a laughing stock amongst Europe’s elite with their latest financial hiccup surrounding former Liverpool target Dani Olmo, but the Reds know that the Catalan giants cannot be underestimated when it comes to their interest in Diaz.
As we know, Barcelona is the dream destination for virtually every South American player, with Diaz a player who could jump at the chance to join Hansi Flick’s side if an offer was to be made this year for the Liverpool winger.
And for Liverpool, they know they need to bite the bullet and offer Diaz exactly what he deserves after such an impressive year under Slot, with the winger now simply too good to be allowed to leave for Barcelona in the summer.
