'Saw him a lot': Arne Slot names the Liverpool player he used to love watching even before joining Reds

Arne Slot has endured a flying start to life at Liverpool after replacing Jurgen Klopp at the helm.
Most of their key players are firing and a handful of others who weren’t great last season – like Luis Diaz and Ryan Gravenberch – have been transformed under the new manager.
Looking ahead to the game against Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow at Anfield, Slot sang the praises of another Liverpool player who watched even before joining the club.
Arne Slot says Alexis Mac Allister can play multiple roles for Liverpool
Alexis Mac Allister has started more often than not when fully fit under the new manager and will look to make an impact against his former club tomorrow.
The Liverpool manager highlighted Mac Allister’s versatility, admitting that he could play any of the three roles in the centre of the park.
“He’s a player I would play him in all three midfield positions as he’s that comfortable,” said Slot at a press conference.
“I saw him a lot at Brighton and a lot as double six and number 10. He can play both.
“He plays a bit in between now. Ryan is always the deepest, Dom and Curtis higher and Alexis in between. He can play either second 10 or second 6, depends how dominant we are. He can make a difference at both ends.”
Mac Allister’s stats this season
Earlier this season, Mac Allister spoke glowingly of Slot after the Dutchman replaced Klopp at the helm.
The Argentine midfielder is clearly highly rated by the new manager, having started every game barring one for Liverpool in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Alexis Mac Allister 24-25 stats | Apps | Goals | Assists | Yellow cards | Red cards | Mins played |

UEFA Champions League | 3 | 1 | – | 2 | – | 270′ |
EFL Cup | 2 | – | – | – | – | 57′ |
With games set to come thick and fast between now and the turn of the year, Mac Allister’s ability to play different roles in midfield could prove to be absolutely invaluable for the Reds.
