Slot: Curtis Jones Taken Off As A Precaution, Too Soon To Tell Severity

The Liverpool midfielder was taken off early in the preseason friendly against Real Betis, but we have to wait and see how long he will be out for.

By all accounts, Scouse midfielder Curtis Jones has taken to the new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, feeling that the new tactics suit him better than his role under the previous manager, Jurgen Klopp.

So, in typical Curtis Jones (and Liverpool, if we're honest) fashion, he went out and picked up a knock in his very first preseason outing.

"I think it's too early to tell [how bad it is]. He maybe could have played on, but I think maybe you could see he was not at 100%," Slot said after the match.

"It's always a pity if he has to go out after 25 minutes, half an hour. And before that you could see that he was not completely free. It was unfortunate because he had two really good weeks during the training sessions so I looked forward to seeing him in the game, but unfortunately he had to go out."

Seeing as they do not know the severity yet, Slot was unable to give a prediction when he might return, but was hopeful that taking him off was simply precautionary.

It might be a minor injury, but it could have some negative early-season season consequences, both for Jones and the squad as a whole. With so many starters returning late from international duty, it is likely that Liverpool will be slow to get up to speed to start the campaign, especially with the change of managers.
