Liverpool were 4-1 victors on the weekend against Ipswich Town, with Mohamed Salah once again on the scoresheet for the Reds.

The Egyptian international brought his Premier League goalscoring tally to 19 for the season, with Rio Ferdinand now backing Salah to beat Thierry Henry’s two-decade-long record of scoring and assisting 20+ goals in a single league campaign.

With Liverpool maintaining their six-point lead over Arsenal, the comfortable win against Ipswich was key for the Reds in their mission to keep the pressure on the Gunners in the Premier League title race heading into the final third of the campaign.

Indeed, Salah was in top form for the Anfield side having scored his 50th European goal for Liverpool earlier in the week, yet Micah Richards believes something was missing from the winger’s performance against Ipswich.

Richards ‘expected’ more from Salah for Liverpool vs Ipswich

Speaking on the Rest is Football, the former Manchester City defender noted how he ‘expected’ more from Salah against Ipswich, with the winger managing just one goal for the Reds as Cody Gakpo stole the show for Liverpool.

With Ipswich defender Jacob Greaves lauding Salah as 'incredible' after Saturday’s performance, though, the Liverpool forward did enjoy a good game against the newly-promoted Premier League side, who struggled massively at Anfield.

Yet for Richards, the pundit expected more from Salah against Ipswich, with the former England international noting that this weekend’s game was an opportunity for the Liverpool superstar to really increase his numbers for this season.

Richards said: "I expected a little bit more, to be honest. Gakpo was the man, but I expected more. When you see that many goals go in you think: ‘Come on, a couple of goals and an assist or whatnot.’ But yeah, I can’t complain."

What Premier League record did Salah break vs Ipswich?

Salah might have managed just one goal against Ipswich, yet that didn’t stop the attacker from making even more Premier League history for Liverpool, something that the 32-year-old is seemingly doing on a weekly basis.

The forward’s goal saw Salah overtake Henry in the Premier League all-time goalscorers list, with the Egyptian international now in with a real shot at breaking into the top five before the season is over later this year.

Salah’s form has been instrumental to Liverpool’s success this season, and the more records the winger breaks, the better the Reds will perform in the league, with all signs pointing towards the Anfield side winning the Premier League.
