Liverpool returned to winning ways with a 4-0 win against League Two side Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup third-round.

After a difficult few games that saw the Reds draw to Manchester United and then lose to Tottenham in the League Cup, Liverpool established themselves as the top side in England once again with a thumping win at Anfield against Accrington Stanley.

With Federico Chiesa scoring his first goal for Liverpool and Arne Slot handing a record-breaking start to 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha, it was a jubilant day on Merseyside, with the Reds booking their place in the fourth-round of the FA Cup with ease.

And Accrington Stanley chairman Andy Holt has now praised Liverpool and Slot for how he was treated on Saturday.

Slot and Liverpool praised for ‘top class’ treatment

Taking to Twitter, the Accrington Stanley chairman waxed lyrical about how Liverpool treated the League Two side and how generous Slot was with his time, even with the League Two side losing 4-0 at Anfield.

Holt posted: “Just spoke to John Doolan for half an hour: "What do you mean you've given the lads Monday off? We lost 4-0!" Liverpool were total class. As is Arne Slot. Literally could not have treated us any better.”

Given the size of the fixture for the League Two side, it’s perhaps no surprise that Accrington Stanley and the club’s chairman were treated like royalty by Liverpool, who have a reputation for being outstanding hosts for visiting teams.

And this reputation was once again seen this weekend when Accrington Stanley came to town, with the Reds’ chairman giving Liverpool a glowing review on how he was treated and how Slot seemingly also interacted with the EFL official.

Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures after 4-0 FA Cup win

January has so far being a frustrating month for Liverpool, with the Reds 1-0 down in their League Cup semi-final series against Tottenham and failing to beat arguably the worst United side this century at home.

And Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures aren’t getting any easier, with the Anfield side travelling to high-flying Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night with another difficult away trip to Brentford coming up straight afterwards.

Following that, though, Liverpool’s January fixtures begin to look much more manageable, with the Reds hosting LOSC Lille and Ipswich Town before ending the month and their UEFA Champions League group phase away to PSV Eindhoven.
